Day 241 in dreaming about Disney and meeting up with Mickey
My dear friends the Carlsons are at Disney World today. As a matter of fact, they just texted me a photo of them sitting at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. I can feel myself relax just looking at the photo. This week I will live vicariously through them.
This is what Jean Carlson had to say about their trip: Heading out in the a.m. to see Mickey for a week at WDW…we’ve planned a little divine purpose into our trip. It has to do with you and your battle against cancer. Every ride we go on will begin with us lifting you up in prayer; strength, healing, and joy in Jesus name. When we see the Mouse in black, we’ll let him know you all are coming in October!
I can’t quit smiling. That is the sweetest thing. I am touched beyond words. So my plan is to hold them up in prayer this week. I pray they will have a time of relaxation and fun, and they will be blessed each day with the warmth of the sun, the warmth of being with family, the warmth of God smiling on them.
Hallelujah! He is risen! He is risen indeed! Today’s plan was to go to church and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ! And I did. It was a beautiful worship service with praise music, both traditional hymns and contemporary songs. The sermon was so inspirational. And there truly is nothing like communing with the family of God. What a blessed service!
Then we had lunch at our daughter-in-law’s grandfather’s home. There were nine of us all together, and as a special treat one of Mike’s sisters (Joan) was here to celebrate, too. We had a delicious meal and thought provoking conversation.
Now tonight I look forward to watching The Bible, A.D. It is so satisfying to get to focus on this amazing true story.
May you have a blessed Easter. Meet you at the Kingdom!
Day 239 in my ambling toward the Magic Kingdom and Mickey (6 months and 9 days to go)
Well, I went all out yesterday and got my hair cut, treated myself to lunch AND had a manicure.
Marina at JC Penney’s Styling Salon washed and trimmed my hair. Isn’t it amazing how a haircut can make you feel like a new woman? It was wonderful pampering. As I was paying, I noticed they were selling nail polish themed on the new live-action Cinderella. I bought “Ella of a Girl” which is a light pink and “Watch your Step, Sister” which is a darker pink. Very Disney and very fun.
Next it was lunch at “On the Border.” They have a delicious “Tex Mex Cobb” salad. Yum! I wanna go back for a repeat!
Finally I went to “Graphic Nails” and had the manicurist put “Ella of a Girl.” on my nails.
**Sigh** It was a great day of pure pampering.
Today’s plan? My plan today is to not have a plan for a change. Just rest up and enjoy my day. Just me, Kitty and some Disney TV.
Today my plan is a little pampering. I will go for a much needed haircut. Then I might just treat myself to lunch or a manicure or a movie. So many choices! Have a blessed Good Friday, dear readers. What a beautiful sacrifice, all for love of us! Thank you, Lord! We will worship tonight with our St. James family and remember.
Meet you at the Kingdom!
BTW: Kitty finally let me scratch her head a little bit. She is so soft! And last night for the first time she came and lay in her bed in the living room while Mike and I were watching some TV and falling asleep ourselves. Domestic bliss! 🙂
What a busy day! Up early and into work early, so I could leave at 9:15 to have lab work done. Then back to work where I printed and stuffed a bazillion bulletins for Easter morning worship. Then home for an hour to visit our new cat, Mary Ann (who we lovingly call Kitty). Back to the church for a rehearsal with Damascus Road, our contemporary band. Staying at church for the Maundy Thursday service. Hanging around while Mike helped take the rails out from the altar, so the altar would be completely stripped for Good Friday. A bite to eat at The Full Moon. And finally crashed at home in my favorite chair. Whew! My plan for today was to just keep moving, putting one foot in front of the other, and surviving this busy day. CHECK! Day done! Have a blessed Holy Week.
Yay! I don’t see any doctors today. I don’t have any tests today. Yay! So my plan for today is to prepare a lovely, healthy dinner for my man and me. I’m thinking maybe a chicken and bean stew. It will be a new recipe for me.
It’s a beautiful spring day in the neighborhood, and I have a case of Spring Fever. I wish I was at Disney’s Animal Kingdom today. I would love to be on Kilimanjaro Safari right now, with plans to ride Kali River Rapids next. I get so excited when I think that our trip is only 6 months and 12 days away.
My “Happy Place” right now, is hanging out on the boardwalk at Old Key West, sharing a basket of Conch Fritters and sipping on a drink with an umbrella in it! Ahh…that is the life! And my “Happy Thought” right now is that my surgery will be behind me and I will be well on my way to and through recovery. Life is good, my friends, and God is even better!
Today in order to get healthier I had an ultrasound on my thyroid. It was not a fun half hour, but it is behind me. My doctor just called to say that I need a biopsy on my thyroid, so we’ll schedule that tomorrow.
My surgery is being postponed. I should have a new date soon. My surgeon wants a general surgeon available because of the hernia issue. It won’t be sooner than April 24th.
I discovered that our 180 days out from our trip to Walt Disney World hits on April 16. If my surgery had stayed on the 15th, then I would have been in the hospital that morning. Disney buffs know that once you have your room booked, at 180 days out you can make your reservations for dining. Now I should be home to make those reservations. It’s a small blessing, but I’ll take it!
There’s out of shape, and then there’s OUT OF SHAPE. I had to see my doc today for a pre-surgery checkup. I had an EKG and a Chest X-ray. Then because my hip is extremely painful at the moment, he had me get a n X-ray of my hip. Blah!
My surgeon called with some results from my CT scan. The cancer looks as though it is contained in the uterus. That is great news! However, I have an abdominal hernia, a 9 cm cyst in my left kidney, and there is an issue with my thyroid. So I go back in tomorrow for an ultrasound on my thyroid.
I’m exhausted just thinking about it all. I have to reschedule the Women’s Retreat that I am running at our church. It was supposed to be on April 25th, just 10 days after my surgery. So I postponed it to June 13th to give myself plenty of healing time.
Now I believe I will take a nap. So tired. Meet you at the Kingdom!
Day 233 in my pilgrimage to get healthier to greet Mickey
Todays plan was to head to church for our Palm Sunday celebration. We raised our palms as we marched into the sanctuary singing, “All Glory, Laud and Honor.” It gets to me every year. How exciting to be praising God and waving palms, inviting him to be among us.
Then in place of the sermon we had a dramatic reading of the the story of the Passion of Christ. It is one of my favorite services of the year. God never fails to meet us there.
A Blessed Holy Week to you all.
Meet you at the Kingdom!
Pilgrimage to better health to meet Mickey. A 14 month Quest.
