12 Week Reward

Well, after all the whining in my last post…IT HAPPENED! Twelve weeks and I made that 20 pound loss mark, 20.2 pounds actually. I am so beyond jacked!

I have four more weeks in my initial Noom registration. In that four weeks my goals are to lose five more pounds, to increase my two daily walks by 10 minutes for an extra 20 minutes a day, and to investigate some new diabetic-friendly recipes that are also calorie-friendly and Noom-friendly.

Anyway, today has been a very good day. Thanks for following along this journey, Dear Readers.

Meet me at the Kingdom.

PS. I am booked at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter for my 65th birthday. Finally plan to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT. It’s something to plan for, and something to help me stay on the straight and narrow.

Turning 65 at Walt Disney World

I’ve been thinking about turning 65 years old and becoming eligible for Medicare. It’s a year and a half away for me, but I’d like to celebrate it at Walt Disney World. I turned 60 there, and it just seems like this next milestone would be fun to be there, too. We wouldn’t be using our DVC points, because we’re saving those for Disneyland Paris in 2021. but I’ve always wanted to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter, and this may be the right opportunity to do so. Here’s what Disney has to say about it:

Revel in the romance and pageantry of New Orleans’s historic French Quarter at this Moderate Resort hotel, where cobblestone streets, gas lamps, wrought-iron balconies and fragrant magnolia blossoms evoke the Antebellum era and colorful Mardi Gras characters and jazz keep things lively.

We would take in the holiday sites, and go into EPCOT for one day so we could experience the Candlelight Processional.

A candlelight processional at Holidays Around The World at Epcot

Hear the stirring story of Christmas as told by a celebrity narrator, and accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and massed choir.

The rest of the time we would wander our resort, walk around and explore Disney Springs more thoroughly, book dining reservations at places we’ve never been before, and chill.
Sounds like fun, right? It’s something fun to think about anyway.
Meet you at the Kingdom.

P.S. I finally reached the 10 pounds off mark. It took nearly four weeks. It’s a hard win. This is the toughest weight loss ever for me. Perhaps in the long run, it will be the best. Here’s hoping.

Disney Dining Buddy…Yow-zer!

Day 404 in small victories on my way to meet Mickey (26 days to go)

You guys, Disney Dining Buddy is a GREAT site!  I signed up, and for $8 they kept watch for a dinner reservation at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom on December 8th.  THEY CONTACTED ME WITH AN OPENING TODAY!  I had checked every sit-down restaurant in Magic Kingdom for that date.  There was nothing available anywhere.  Mike and I have tickets to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party that evening, and I had hoped to have dinner in the park before the official start time at 7:00 pm.  Thank you Disney Dining Buddy!  I am quite simply over the moon!

Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, for those of you who don’t know, is a restaurant themed after Lady and the Tramp.  Remember the scene where Tramp and Lady share a plate of spaghetti and accidentally have their first kiss?  That scene happens behind Tony’s Restaurant.   I love that movie; I love that scene from that movie; I love this restaurant.  It’s my favorite Magic Kingdom full service restaurant.  I’m so pleased!

December Dining

Day 400 in my planning my way to meeting up with Mickey

Today’s plan was to book some dining reservations for our December trip to Walt Disney World.  Here’s what the plans are:

  1. December 6–Dinner at The Hollywood Brown Derby and a leisurely afternoon and evening strolling around Disney’s Hollywood Studios and taking in the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights and perhaps Fantasmic!
  2. December 7–Dinner at Rose & Crown Pub at EPCOT followed by Candlelight Processional.  And an afternoon and evening of EPCOT touring.
  3. December 8–An early dinner at The Wave…of American Flavors at Disney’s Contemporary Resort followed by Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom.  I would have liked to have dinner at Magic Kingdom, but there is not one available reservation for that afternoon/evening.  However, I have a soft spot for Disney’s Contemporary Resort, so I’m happy to have an excuse to visit there.

What a fun day this has been!  Meet you at the Kingdom!

Day 399 in my incredible journey to meeting up with Mickey

OMGoodness, I am blown away.  I just had a phone call from a dear person gifting me and Mike three nights at a Value Resort at Walt Disney World in December in celebration of my 60th birthday.  We are booked at the All Star Sports Resort on December 6, 7 and 8.  WOW!  I can’t even believe it.  I will be at Disney World twice before the end of this year.  Incredible!

Today’s plan is to book some dining reservations and purchase tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  How fun!  I am completely overwhelmed by this gesture, and very, very excited about Disney World all decked out for Christmas.  Holy wah!
