Day 405 in exciting developments on my way to meeting up with Mickey
Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles…our MagicBands arrived in the mail today. This is so exciting!! We three girls are fashionable and extroverted in our choices: blue, yellow and red. The three menfolk are more conservative: all three chose gray. 😆 But it just tickles my funny bone to look inside and see our names imprinted there. The trip is only 25 days away now. 25 days!!! I get so excited thinking about it that I could just puke. 25 days from now we’ll be at Olivia’s Cafe enjoying our Unbirthday Dinner. We’ve been saving up for 2 years of birthdays for this.
Dear Readers, the MagicBands have entered the building! Can Walt Disney World be far now? NO!
Day 404 in small victories on my way to meet Mickey (26 days to go)
You guys, Disney Dining Buddy is a GREAT site! I signed up, and for $8 they kept watch for a dinner reservation at Tony’s Town SquareRestaurant in Magic Kingdom on December 8th. THEY CONTACTED ME WITH AN OPENING TODAY! I had checked every sit-down restaurant in Magic Kingdom for that date. There was nothing available anywhere. Mike and I have tickets to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party that evening, and I had hoped to have dinner in the park before the official start time at 7:00 pm. Thank you Disney Dining Buddy! I am quite simply over the moon!
Tony’s Town SquareRestaurant, for those of you who don’t know, is a restaurant themed after Lady and the Tramp. Remember the scene where Tramp and Lady share a plate of spaghetti and accidentally have their first kiss? That scene happens behind Tony’s Restaurant. I love that movie; I love that scene from that movie; I love this restaurant. It’s my favorite Magic Kingdom full service restaurant. I’m so pleased!
Day 403 in my stumbling toward meeting up with Mickey
Today I signed Mike and myself up for Magical Express, the Disney-provided (free) bus from Orlando International Airport to Disney’s All Star Sports Resort and then back to the airport again at the end of our brief December vacation. And…I screwed it up completely. Even though I entered that there will be two adults traveling, somehow at the end it only showed Mike as registered, with no mention of me. So tomorrow I’ll call and try to get this all straightened out. Sheesh!
And now I just want to mention my frustration at trying to book dining reservations for the December trip. Minnie’s Holiday and Dine Dinner is completely sold out while we are there. This is supposedly one of the least busy times of the year at Walt Disney World, and still no openings. ARGH! I’m starting to believe that there is no such things as “least busy times” at Walt Disney World.
First of all, I completely forgot to blog yesterday; sorry about that. I have not, however, been idle. I have booked our flight to Walt Disney World in December. It has been a very exciting few days as we consider what days we want to attend which parks, where we want to dine, and what Fastpass+’s we want to try for.
Back to better choices and more movement as I make my way to Florida… We’ll be there is less than a month!
Day 400 in my planning my way to meeting up with Mickey
Today’s plan was to book some dining reservations for our December trip to Walt Disney World. Here’s what the plans are:
December 6–Dinner at The Hollywood Brown Derby and a leisurely afternoon and evening strolling around Disney’s Hollywood Studios and taking in the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights and perhaps Fantasmic!
December 7–Dinner at Rose & Crown Pub at EPCOT followed by Candlelight Processional. And an afternoon and evening of EPCOT touring.
December 8–An early dinner at The Wave…of American Flavors at Disney’s Contemporary Resort followed by Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom. I would have liked to have dinner at Magic Kingdom, but there is not one available reservation for that afternoon/evening. However, I have a soft spot for Disney’s Contemporary Resort, so I’m happy to have an excuse to visit there.
What a fun day this has been! Meet you at the Kingdom!
Day 399 in my incredible journey to meeting up with Mickey
OMGoodness, I am blown away. I just had a phone call from a dear person gifting me and Mike three nights at a Value Resort at Walt Disney World in December in celebration of my 60th birthday. We are booked at the All Star Sports Resort on December 6, 7 and 8. WOW! I can’t even believe it. I will be at Disney World twice before the end of this year. Incredible!
Today’s plan is to book some dining reservations and purchase tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. How fun! I am completely overwhelmed by this gesture, and very, very excited about Disney World all decked out for Christmas. Holy wah!
Today I booked our taxi cabs to and from Midway Airport, with AmericanTaxi. Woo hoo! $65 one way, so $130 round trip. That seems like a lot of money, but to park our car at Midway Airport for 8 nights would have cost us $1 less ($129). So we decided to save ourselves the aggravation of driving ourselves in Chicago traffic and take the cab.
I makes me really appreciate Disney’s Magical Express which is the free bus service from the Orlando Airport to Old Key West and back. That really is a great perk for staying on property.
Even just booking the taxi was exciting. Our family reunion trip is only one month and two days to go. Bring it on!
Today’s plan was to investigate some of the sites that are out there to find hard to get dining reservations at Walt Disney World for people. I looked into Disney Dining Scout and WDW Table Finder. I put in my desired reservation: Cinderella’s Royal Table: October 14 at 8:00 am: table for six. If anything comes available they will alert me. I know it’s a shot in the dark. I know it is pretty much an impossible request, but no guts-no glory, so I’m putting it out there. Wish me luck.
Day 396 in my trekking toward Mickey (1 month and 4 days to go)
Today’s plan to see to my health on the way to Walt Disney World was to have a colonoscopy. Mission accomplished! I am so-o-o-o glad to have that behind me. (Pun intended) And I got really good news today; I don’t have to go back for ten years! Woo hoo! That us a considerable improvement over last time. I chalk it up to eating better, making conscious decisions to make healthier choices and to avoid sugar. I have absolutely no medical facts to back that up, but something gave me a better result this time, so I’m going with that theory. 🙂
So onward in the sprint now to Florida. Sugar-free, walking everyday, making smart/healthy food choices. I am ready!
Mickey, I am coming soon!!Meet you at the Kingdom!
