Animal Attractions

Day 435 in fuzzy warm thoughts as I meet Mickey

Today it’s all about the animals. We got to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in time for our first FastPass+ at 11:00 a.m. on Kilminjaro Safari. That is just the most wonderful attraction. We saw so many animals, but my favorite were the flamingos. I don’t know why; I just like them. 😄

Then on to Festival of the Lion King.   What a musical spectacle!  We were right in the front row, so we felt like we were in the middle of the action.  Such talent!   Amazing!

We had lunch at Yak and Yeti. We’ve never eaten there before. Yum!  I highly recommend the Dim Dum Basket appetizer and the Mango Pie Dessert.  The Coconut Shrimp was pretty great, too. Jake and Eliza liked the Wasabi Mashed a Potatoes.

Finally we saw Nemo-the Musical. Great vocals and a really good puppet show. The colors were beautiful.

Now we’re headed back to Old Key West and a relaxing evening. Come and meet me at the Kingdom!

EPCOT Excitement

Day 434 in eating my way around the world

EPCOT day!  I absolutely love this park!

Jake and Eliza had some work to do this morning, so Mike and I headed to the park on our own. We went to the Food and Wine Festival Welcome Center. We checked it out and toured the Ghirardelli booth. We brought a cup of their decadent drinking chocolate, and it was so-o-o decadent. Yum!

Then we attended a coffee roasting seminar by Joffrey’s. It was very interesting. And afterward we sipped some fresh roasted coffee. It was delicious.

We met up with Jake and Eliza for lunch at San Angel Inn in the Mexico pavilion. I actually ordered a salad for lunch, and my body thanked me for the fuel.

We walked around the “world” and checked out the food and wine booths.  The Irish cheese was most excellent.

Then it was FastPass+ time:

  1. Test Track– Mike and Jake rode while Eliza and I did a little shopping.
  2. Next we all headed for Spaceship Earth.
  3. Then Jake and Eliza headed for Canada and a taste of Filet Mignon while Mike and I hit Starbucks and sipped more coffee.
  4. Finally we went on The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

What a fun day!  Now tonight we are meeting Daniel C. for dinner at Olivia’s Cafe at Old Key West. That will be a delightful finish to a delightful day.

Come and meet me at the Kingdom!

Catching My Breath

Day 433 in slowing down to meet Mickey

The Halloween Party last night was fantastic!! The parade, the Hocus Pocus stage show and the fireworks were more than I could have hoped for. We rode Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion and managed to get on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in a 20 minute line at the end of the night. Plus I got to try a Candy Corn Ice Cream Cone. Very tasty and the cone was filled with candy corn. Such a Halloween treat.

Today is a day away from the Disney parks. Jake and Eliza headed for Universal Studios and all the Harry Potter fun. Mike and I mooched around and took it pretty slow. We made ourselves lunch and dinner back in our villa. I feel mellow and stress free.

Vacation is good. Come and meet me at the Kingdom!

BTW: Our prayers are with Jon and Julie in this time of trial. Love you both!  And a special nod to Bean and James. We’re lifting you up in prayer and missing you something fierce. xxoo

Princesses and Villans

Day 432 in my quest to see Mickey

I forgot to put in yesterday’s post that went to Country Bear Jamboree. We all laughed out loud at the wonderful corniness of it all!

This morning it was off to Hollywood Studios. We FastPass+’d:

  • Rock ‘N’ Rollercoaster
  • The Little Mermaid
  • Star Tours

Then Jake and Eliza headed to the Brown Derby for a Cobb Salad while Mike and I sought out a turkey leg to split while we guzzled bottled water. Yum!  We also managed a visit to Writer’s Stop where I bought the newest Kingdom Keepers book, and finally sampled their famous Carrot Cake Cookie. There is only one word to describe that cookie…WAH!!

Now we’re chillaxing for a minute then it’s off to the California Grill for dinner and on to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Man!  This place is fun!  Come meet me at the Kingdom!

Joyous Bliss

Day 430 We are in Florida!

We had a smooth flight to Orlando. We met up with Jake and Eliza and had coffee and conch fritters at Old  Key West poolside. Our groceries got delivered to our room. Then, joy of joys, we had dinner tonight at Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West. My favorite restaurant in Disney World at my favorite resort. I feel completely sated.

I ordered an Unbirthday cake in advance and we enjoyed that for dessert. It was shaped like Mickey’s head with yellow cake, cream filling and chocolate frosting with some fondant bits. OMGoodness!  What a treat!

Now it’s off to bed so I can get up early and head to Magic Kingdom. Life is good, my friends. Come meet me at the Kingdom!

BTW: Shout out to Emi and James. We really miss you!  God bless!!!!

Tomorrow, Tomorrow…

Day 429 in finishing the race to meet up with Mickey

Tomorrow, tomorrow I love ya, tomorrow.  You’re only a day away….

Mike and I will be picked up bright and early tomorrow to be delivered to Midway Airport and then to fly to Orlando!  Woo hoo!  We are flying Southwest and their computers went caput yesterday, so please pray for a smooth journey.

On the down side, we just found out that Emi and James have to postpone their trip, so we won’t get to see them in Florida.  They will come to Chicago next month instead.  That is a wonderful thing to look forward to, however, we will miss them in Florida.  That means we have a spare bedroom that sleeps four in the Grand Villa for the next week.  Any family folk interested?  (Date Oct. 13-21 eight nights)

My bag is packed, and I am ready almost ready to go.  I just have to pack the last minute things: meds, phone charger, phone, sunglasses, etc…  My stomach is in pre-travel knots as usual.  🙂  But I am ready for some Florida sunshine and some Mickey face-time!

I will try to blog from Florida, but I’m not taking my laptop, just my phone.  Love to you all, dear readers!  Meet you at the Kingdom!

The Two Day Shuffle

Day 428 in last minute packing to meet Mickey

2 days, People, we go in just 2 days!  I FaceTimed with my daughter Emi today, and both of us kept getting so excited, that we could hardly contain ourselves.

Today I shopped for those last minute essentials that were not yet in place, so my goal for today is to have everything as packed and ready as possible.  Then tomorrow I can throw myself into work and hopefully the day will pass quickly.  I will skip out at lunchtime tomorrow to get a new battery in my Mickey watch.  Then I will be good to go!

Honestly I’m so excited now that every so often I feel my heart racing, and all the thoughts in my head are of Mickey and the Gang and the most magical place on earth.  Soon, my Friends, I will meet you (and Mickey) at the Kingdom!

What to Pack So that I Don’t Overpack

Day 427 in flipping out on my way to seeing Mickey

Three days to go!!!!  Today I’ve been digging through closets, finishing up laundry, checking and rechecking suggestions online for packing for Disney World (Thank you to wdwprepschool.com!), chasing down luggage tags, making a list of what I need to pick up from the store tomorrow and adding things to my suitcase.  What an exciting and nerve-wracking day this has been!  What goes into my checked luggage?  What do I need to fit in my carry on?  What will fit in my purse?

Carry on: , swimsuit, extra underwear (always, in case my checked luggage goes missing), meds and vitamins, book for the airplane, laptop and charger, itinerary

Purse: wallet, MagicBands, all Disney cards (Disney Vacation Club MembershipDisney PhotoPass, 5-day Park Hoppers, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween), photo ID, cell phone and charger, insurance cards, taxi confirmation to the airport

Checked luggage: everything else…clothes, sunscreen, vegetarian chili, aloe, toiletries, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, taxi confirmation from the airport, day-by-day planner, pain medicine, blister pads, wet wipes

And on and on and on…  I will see my beautiful children and their beautiful spouses AND my beautiful spouse all in the same room in just three days.  And Daniel C. will join us at the table for dinner that first evening at Olivia’s Cafe as we celebrated our Unbirthdays together.  What a blessing that will be!

Readers, thank you so-o-o-o much for following me on this journey.  Meet you at the Kingdom!

Four Days!

Day 426 in getting closer to meeting up with Mickey

Well, I must be getting close, because I went and had my vacation mani/pedi today.  I got Mickey Mouse Red on my fingernails and on my toenails.  It’s actually called Red Hot Rio, but close enough.  🙂

Hair color and cut…check!

Nails done with no-chip polish…check!

Chin waxed (don’t ask!)…check!

OMGoodness, we are four days away!

Tonight we are treating ourselves to salads from Potbelly for dinner.  Instead of taking time to cook, I am putting my efforts toward laundry and PACKING!  And I’ll try on my swimsuits tonight and decide which one makes the cut.  We are looking at highs in the 80’s and lows in the 60’s in Lake Buena Vista next week.  Bring it on!

I can hardly hold another thought in my head,  I’m so excited!  Meet you at the Kingdom!
