Day 303 in my driving toward my destination of meeting Mickey at Magic Kingdom
Today I woke early and headed to St. James Lutheran Church to play the contemporary service. It was transcendent! The Holy Spirit was there in a very real way. Listening to and singing with my daughter Emi, who lives in England, is always a blessing and today was no exception. I am so grateful for that opportunity!
I knew we were eating out twice today, so my plan was to choose wisely. We ate brunch at Maevery Public House in Lake Bluff. I picked a Veggie Benny: 2 poached eggs, each on a half of an English muffin, with asparagus, broccoli, spinach and tomato with Lite Hollandaise Sauce. It was so satisfying.
Now tonight, because it’s Emi’s last night here, she chose the Silo for dinner. We are all having a side salad. Mike, Emi, Jake and Eliza will have pizza for their entree. I will have half of a spinach soufflé baked potato and save the rest for tomorrow. It is simply a day of delightful worship, family, friends and fabulous food.
I am feeling very blessed and very sated. Meet you at the Kingdom!
Day 82 in my attempt to accomplish something everyday to be as healthy as I possibly can be when I go to the Magic Kingdom to meet Mickey next October
This evening, after a full day of work and before a contemporary band rehearsal tonight, I get to meet up with some dear friends at the Silo, our local watering hole. Some of these friends I blessedly get to see often, and some of these friends I seldom get to see. What a treat!! What a joy!!
So here’s my 2-part plan for today:
- Rather than ordering pizza (the best deep-dish pizza in Chicagoland in my very prejudiced opinion), I will order a salad. Now before you feel too sorry for me, this salad has spinach, romaine lettuce, steak, roasted garlic, red onions and bleu cheese crumbles. Huh? And it comes with warm bread. I will either split this with my honey, or take half of it home (if Mike wants pizza or a something else). Ahhh…YUM!
- I will focus on the conversation and the company, rather than my usual pattern of zoning in on the food (and making the company second best).
So today’s plan is very do-able, and I need that today. Tomorrow we are predicted to have gale-force winds, rain, and snow flurries. Instead of cowering inside, I want to take a walk on the wild side and get out there in the elements. It may be one of the shortest walks in history, but it will be a walk. Stay tuned to see details on how that turns out. 🙂 And due to the weather, I may put my celebratory Halloween cupcake off for a day. I hate driving far in nasty weather!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, dear friends, and thank you for your support. Meet you at the Kingdom!
Day 54 in my race to rendezvous with Mickey at the Magic Kingdom
Today is a very exciting day! My daughter Emi is coming in for twelve days from Bristol, England. She is married to a very wonderful Brit named James, so she lives there. (Wish you were coming to visit too, James!) I am jacked!!! (Of course, I did also drink a cup of caffeinated coffee from MacDonald’s this morning. That probably isn’t helping.) 🙂
I began this Disney quest, because I want to thoroughly enjoy our trip to Walt Disney World in October 2015 WITH Emi & James, Jake (our son) & Eliza, Mike (my husband) & me. I want to be able to walk around and really relish the parks with my family this time. What a celebration it will be to have the whole family together in such a fun place!
Today is also a day of celebration. When Emi comes we always celebrate by going to The Silo for dinner. It is our local watering hole, and they make the best pizza I’ve ever tasted. So here’s today’s plan: I will drink Diet Coke or iced tea or water this evening, and I will order a salad for dinner. The BIG celebration next October has to remain my main goal, so I will make healthy choices tonight and save the pizza for another day. I can not eat pizza today. I can do that for this one day. (Thank you, Jesus!) And who knows? Maybe I’ll enjoy a slice in Florida. 🙂
Meet you at the Kingdom!
